Intergalactic x SCA 2025 : FMIPA Unesa Student Innovation Forum Towards a Sustainable Society
Surabaya, November 9, 2025 — The Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (BEM FMIPA) at Surabaya State University successfully held the Grand Final Intergalactic 2025 event, which was combined with Sharing Career with Alumni (SCA). The event took place on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the Prof. Slamet Dajono Auditorium, Building D1 FMIPA Unesa, and was broadcast online via Zoom Meeting. The event carried the theme “Your Innovation for a Sustainable Society,” reflecting FMIPA Unesa's spirit in fostering creative and innovative ideas among students and encouraging scientific contributions to sustainable development.
Two Main Agendas: Innovation Competition and Career Insights
The event is divided into two main agendas, namely Intergalactic 2025, a competition for scientific works and innovations by university and high school students, and Sharing Career with Alumni, which features inspirational sessions with alumni from various study programs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The objectives of this event are: (1) to increase enthusiasm for research and scientific publication at the national and international levels, (2) to develop students' critical and creative thinking skills, (3) to provide career insights through alumni experience sharing sessions, and (4) to strengthen relationships between students, alumni, and the academic community of FMIPA Unesa.
Series of Events and Participant Enthusiasm
The Grand Final of Intergalactic 2025 was attended by 5 teams in the student category and 5 teams in the high school category, who had previously passed the selection process from various universities and schools in Indonesia. The event series began with a career seminar by Meita Santi Budiani, M.Psi., followed by an interactive discussion with alumni from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) from various fields of study, including:
1. Mohamad Fauzi Nur Fahrudin (Natural Sciences Study Program),
2. Ahmat Khoirul Rifai (Biology Study Program),
3. Dr.(c) Anditya Sentana Maulana, S.Si., MM., SNT., PNT., CPSp., CPOf. (Mathematics Study Program), and
4. Fahira Nadiva Ernandi (Physics Study Program).
In addition to seminars and discussions, the event also featured a Scholarship Exhibition that showcased information from several scholarship providers, such as Beasiswa Indonesia Bangkit, Beasiswa Bank Indonesia, and Beasiswa Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) — providing students with the opportunity to obtain firsthand information about domestic and international scholarship opportunities.

After going through the presentation and assessment stages by the jury panel — Raida Amelia Ifadah, S.TP., M.P., Muhammad Nurrohman Sidiq, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., and Dr. Wang Kah Lun — the best winners were selected for the following two categories:

Science, Career, and Sustainable Inspiration
This event received positive responses and high enthusiasm from students and participants. Around 80 active FMIPA students participated in the Sharing Career with Alumni session, discussing challenges in the world of work, research opportunities, and strategies for continuing postgraduate studies.
The Chair of the FMIPA Unesa Student Executive Board stated that the Intergalactic X SCA 2025 event served as an important platform for students to hone their scientific potential while building sustainable career networks. “We want FMIPA students to not only excel academically, but also be ready to face global challenges through innovation and collaboration,” he said.
The event concluded with the announcement of the winners and a photo session with all finalists, judges, and alumni. Through Intergalactic X SCA 2025, FMIPA Unesa reaffirmed its commitment to continue encouraging students to become creative, characterful young scientists who contribute to a sustainable society.
